What We Do

Foster Care Alumni of America (FCAA) understands that being connected to a community and having a voice are important needs of people who share the foster care experience.  FCAA meets these needs by developing benefits and programming around our five core competencies:

Connecting:
FCAA connects alumni into an extended-family community that supports each other as well as those who come after us in foster care.

Convening:
FCAA brings together the community of alumni and our allies.

Collecting:
FCAA collects valuable input and data from alumni and our allies, which shapes and drives our work and our priorities every day.

Capacity-building:
FCAA successfully advocates for people in and from foster care, working toward improvements in practice and policy in child welfare.  We build the capacity of our members and the foster care system through our strength in numbers and our deep expertise gained by experience.

Circulating:
FCAA advocates for young people and alumni by sharing important findings and perspectives in foster care—the perspectives that can be gained only by experience.
