May 10, 2011 – I am so grateful for Judge Martin’s caring leadership and work, which has made such a difference in the lives of so many children. Every one of us can and must follow her good example. Children in every community need just one adult to step up and be an Aunt Kitty in their lives: to care about what they’re doing, encourage their dreams, and tell anyone who tries to stifle that child’s star that they have come to the wrong place.

May 22, 2010 – Washington, DC — Foster Care Alumni of America, the only national association for adults who experienced foster care as children, has been named to the 2009 Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) & The Center for Association Leadership, Washington, DC.
May 22, 2010 – Jokes, music and food were aplenty at the third annual family reunion of Texas Foster Care Alumni, but amid the celebration Saturday, a missing presence was no joke at all.

May 18, 2010 – At 16, Janiva Magness was pregnant, homeless and looking for a place to sleep when she entered a youth center. She had been to 12 foster homes in two years. The volunteer on duty phoned a struggling single mother who said Magness could sleep at her house. There, the two connected on such a deep level that Magness stayed for the duration of her formative years.
