Foster Care Alumni of America
Connecting Today...Transforming Tomorrow

Ryan Dollinger
Alumni member from Texas
As the TX Chapter Chair, Ryan has worked tirelessly to increase FCAA membership base and the depth of member engagement across the state. He maintains very close contact with TX FCAA members, even while he juggles his own very busy schedule as a college student. Under Ryan’s leadership, the TX Chapter has built a large team of chapter members with official positions of outreach and support.? Ryan is a frequent presence wherever young people and professionals from foster care gather, and his strong belief in the mission of FCAA constantly inspires others to get involved.

In addition, Ryan is actively involved in the national virtual community. He shares his own challenges and victories, modeling for our other members the extended-family network nature of our community. Ryan is among the first to offer words of encouragement or celebration when others share their lives, too. When asked what motivates him to put so much time and energy into FCAA and the alumni community, Ryan remembers not having a support system when he was in care. He states, “I know what an impact it would be have been on me to be surrounded by others from care. I choose to get involved to help others, to let my brothers and sisters know that they are not alone. I don’t want them to feel so alone.”Ryan goes on to say, “I don’t think I would be where I am today either personally or professionally if not for FCAA. I’ve gained confidence and skills. I love doing this!”

Ryan found FCAA in 2007 through our presence on Facebook. He immediately got involved with our organization, bringing a great deal of enthusiasm. Ryan was a founding member of our TX Chapter in January of 2008, and was elected to the leadership position of Chapter Financial Officer. At the next elections, Ryan was elected to the Chair position.
