Texas Chapter

“I am truly inspired by the Foster Care Alumni Movement and to know I am not alone. I am inspired by the commitment and devotion of foster care alumni and their own experiences, which is part of a network — a national organization — state and interstate chapters and individuals, coming together for a common goal; to bring awareness and betterment of the foster care system. And I am inspired by how these alumni and allies reach out to one another in times of celebration and need.”

—Dr. Vivian Dorsett, PhD

The Texas chapter of Foster Care Alumni of America started in 2008. Our chapter focuses on:

  • Connecting today through activities and events, such as Family Reunions and Foster Walks, plus educating and mentoring our younger brothers and sisters from foster care.
  • Transforming tomorrow by influencing public policy, collaborating with allies to improve the child welfare system, and assisting with transitional living resources for young people aging out of foster care.

Our chapter meetings are held virtually, and most of our events are held in the capital city of Austin. Our chapter liaisons network all over the state to assist alumni, youth, and nonprofits. We also sponsor the Harris City Area Texas Foster Care Coalition.
